After an initial entrepreneurial stint of three years at the age of nineteen in his small home town of Cuddalore, India, Suresh Sambandam went to work at Hewlett-Packard in Bangalore for close to four years. There he was part of a team which built a sophisticated rule engine (Talarian's RTIE - Real Time Interface Engine) based "Fraud Detection System" for TACS Mobile Phone Networks for Vodafone.
Later, he joined Selectica as a software analyst and rose to a senior position, as Director of Engineering for the e-Insurance product division, in a span of three and a half years. The e-Insurance division and its products were later acquired by Accenture.
In the technology side he worked in the areas of software architecture for complex enterprise applications, inference engines, configuration engines, rule-based computing & enterprise middleware. Suresh has multiple patents (applied), one in each of the last three organizations that he has worked for. After founding OrangeScape, his work has focused on Business Planning, Technology Marketing, Establishing Partner Sales Channels, Evangelicalism, Analyst Relations, Fund Raising, and Operations Management.
Suresh is passionate about entrepreneurship, technology, innovation, and startups. He spends a significant amount of personal time in the start-up ecosystem in Chennai, one of the top three tech hubs in India. He is a member of the National Council for Emerging Companies Forum and a core committee member of the Product Forum at NASSCOM. He also mentors budding entrepreneurs at IIT Bombay, E-Cell and is a regular speaker at various industry forums & academic institutions on "Cloud Computing".
