The Groups in this section are a collection of not-for-profit and member operated organizations that are working on advancing Cloud Computing standards, interoperability, security, business processes and more through the collaboration of academia, government, consumers and vendors.

The Cloud Computing Interoperability Forum (CCIF) was formed in order to enable a global cloud computing ecosystem whereby organizations are able to seamlessly work together for the purposes of wider industry adoption of cloud computing technology and related services.

This group exists to define use cases for cloud computing. It is a collaboration of cloud consumers and cloud vendors, and is another step towards keeping cloud computing open.

Cloud-standards.org is a Wiki site for Cloud Standards Coordination. The goal of the wiki is to document the activities of the various SDOs working on Cloud Standards. The cloud-standards.org initiative is for editing and sharing a general "cloud computing standardization positioning", in which more relevant cloud standardization initiatives can be seen and related.

The Cloud Security Alliance is a non-profit organization formed to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within Cloud Computing, and provide education on the uses of Cloud Computing to help secure all other forms of computing.

DMTF's Open Cloud Standards Incubator will focus on standardizing interactions between cloud environments by developing cloud resource management protocols, packaging formats and security mechanisms to facilitate interoperability.

The goal of ETSI TC GRID is to address issues associated with the convergence between IT and Telecommunications. The focus is on scenarios where connectivity goes beyond the local network. This includes not only Grid computing but also the emerging commercial trend towards Cloud computing which places particular emphasis on ubiquitous network access to scalable computing and storage resources.

The Global Inter-Cloud Technology Forum (GICTF) is a Japanese organization aimed at bringing together the knowledge of industry, academia and government, and supporting R&D and feasibility tests on the technologies related to interworking between cloud systems. Their aim is to promote standardization of network protocols and the interfaces through which cloud systems interwork with each other, and to enable the provision of more reliable cloud services than those available today.

The IGT is a non-profit organization of leading vendors, ISVs, customers and academia, focused on knowledge sharing and networking for developing Enterprise Grid, Virtualization, SOA and Cloud Computing solutions. It is open, independent and vendor-neutral. The IGT creates business and technologies opportunities by providing frameworks of conferences, work groups, training, a lab and a knowledge center for business and technology networking. As a result of its activities, the IGT is the engine that enhances the industry's ability to adapt and create advanced Grid, Virtualization, SOA and Cloud Computing based solutions.

The Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium™ (NCOIC) is a global, not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing interoperability via network centric operations. NCOIC has formed a Cloud Computing Working Group that will investigate ways to leverage clouds to support global interoperability.

NIST's role in cloud computing is to promote the effective and secure use of the technology within government and industry by providing technical guidance and promoting standards.

The source of many of the foundational standards in use today, OASIS sees Cloud Computing as a natural extension of SOA and network management models. The OASIS technical agenda is set by members, many of whom are deeply committed to building Cloud models, profiles, and extensions on existing standards.

The Open Cloud Consortium (OCC) is a member driven organization that supports the development of standards for cloud computing and frameworks for interoperating between clouds; develops benchmarks for cloud computing; supports reference implementations for cloud computing, preferably open source reference implementations; manages a testbed for Cloud Computing called the Open Cloud Testbed (OCT); and sponsors workshops and other events related to Cloud Computing. The OCC has a particular focus in large data clouds.

The Open Grid Forum Open Cloud Computing Interface (OCCI) working group will deliver an API specification for remote management of cloud computing infrastructure, allowing for the development of interoperable tools for common tasks including deployment, autonomic scaling and monitoring. The specification will be all high level functionality required for the life-cycle management of virtual machines (or workloads) running on virtualization technologies (or containers) supporting service elasticity.

The Open Grid Forum (OGF) is a community of users, developers, and vendors leading the global standardization effort for grid computing. The work of OGF is carried out through community-initiated working groups, which develop standards and specifications in cooperation with other leading standards organizations, software vendors, and users. OGF hosts several events each year to further develop grid-related specifications and use cases and to share best practices.

The SNIA has created the Cloud Storage Technical Work Group for the purpose of developing SNIA Architecture related to system implementations of Cloud Storage technology. The Cloud Storage Technical Work Group is the primary technical entity for the SNIA to identify, develop, and coordinate systems standards for Cloud Storage.

The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) is an international industry standards group. The TCG develops specifications amongst it's members. Upon completion, the TCG publishes the specifications for use and implementation by the industry.
