John Kinsella

Founder at Protected Industries

My background includes 15 years of network and security consulting, software development, and datacenter operations. I've appeared across print and broadcast media, including Time and InformationWeek magazines, blogs and various TV and radio shows, sharing thoughts and opinions on the IT world. In 2004 I co-founded Kliosoft and was the CTO and lead developer of Kliosoft Conductor, a datacenter operations software package for enterprises which revolutionzed how to think about automated security operations.

Nowadays, I'm the Founder of Protected Industries - a San Francisco based consultancy focused on information security consulting. I'm a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and I'm on the board of directors for the Silicon Valley chapter of the Cloud Security Association, as well as a contributing member of the Drupal Association.

My cloud interests are mainly at the Infrastructure and Platform levels, although SaaS topics do interest me from time to time. Specifically, my interests revolve around how to secure cloud infrastructures, and how to provide secure services to customers via cloud technologies.
