When it comes to third party developer programs, Guido Haarmans is a true veteran and expert in the field. He was pivotal in the creation of the Autodesk Developer Network, one of the more mature examples of successful developer programs. Guido also has significant experience in the SaaS world, working for CollabNet, where he created the commercial developer program and openCollabNet, a developer community. Additionally, Guido worked for Driva Solutions, a boutique CRM consulting firm founded by Bill Price, the first global VP of Customer Service for Amazon.com.
In the summer of 2008 I invited Guido to join NetSuite as Vice President Developer Programs. He created a new program from scratch, the SuiteCloud Developer Network (SDN), which launched in March 2009. SDN differentiates itself from other developer programs in SaaS by having a vertical focus, and it positions NetSuite as a premier provider of a Platform as a Service. Through SDN we partner with independent software vendors who create serious business applications that automate business processes for key industries, such as Manufacturing, Retail, Services and Technology. NetSuite’s Platform as a Service offers our partners a rapid time to value because they build on top of our integrated CRM, ERP and eCommerce backbone; developers only need to add their own vertical expertise and their applications are automatically pre-integrated with our core business functionality. To promote these applications to our customers and prospects, we launched SuiteApp.com, NetSuite’s marketplace for third party applications.
With SDN and SuiteApp.com, Guido built the enablers for the SuiteCloud ecosystem, our comprehensive offering of on-demand products, development tools and services that help customers and developers take advantage of the significant economic benefits of Cloud computing.
